Things to do

Hike Along the Taychas Trail

If you are visiting the park, you must not miss out on hiking along the Taychas Trail in Limestone Quarry Park which runs alongside the creek and is shaded by towering deciduous trees. It is ideal for tracking your steps and enjoying the scenery without risking sunburn.

Bring accessories

With water wings, a floatie, and fishing nets in tow, you’ll be prepared for an unforgettable day spent floating down the creek or fishing. Remember to bring water bottles and sunscreen. See more

Additionally, the park contains a secret waterfall! Limestone Quarry Park visitors typically park on Maltby Drive or at the adjacent Bert & Eloise Isbell Elementary School. As you make your way towards the park’s center, you’ll come to a playground. A bench immediately behind the playground provides access to a dirt route that leads to West Rowlett Creek and the hidden waterfall. The walk is only a few minutes long and does not involve any intricate moves, which makes it ideal for young kids. The waterfall cascades into the creek’s peaceful, moss-green water, providing a scenic break from the hustle and bustle of the workweek and a welcome reprieve from the Texas heat. Limestone Quarry Park’s waterfall is quite little. Also, it is sporadic, streaming for 5 to 10 minutes and then pausing for another fifteen minutes or so. It is, however, a lovely photo opportunity and is encircled by an abundance of dry rock, which allows you to leave your personal stuff behind before visiting the rest of the park.
